Moaning isn’t courageous

moaning isn't courageous quote card

No one likes a moaner. It can be exhausting hearing the whimper and their need for validation. It’s like a hurt child wanting sympathy for a hurt. But mostly adult ‘hurts’ are personal, and you can’t see them.

As I see it, moaning needs an audience. Somewhere in their rationalising, a moaner has told themselves that no one has it so bad.  No, moaners like to talk the talk but rarely DO much about it.

They play a victim, rather than a victor.

I had a friend like that once. It was painful to be around, and if she hadn’t distanced herself from me, I would have made the cut myself, eventually.

If you’re a moaner, take a look at the issue and figure out what you can DO to change it.

It’s a matter of choice. We have the power to choose how we handle most challenges. Even Viktor Frankl in his worst holocaust moments knew that how we thought about his problem was key – and he chose Hope.

If something isn’t right in your life, take a dive into it. Face it. Look at your options. But moaning will keep it with you and feed its power over you.

You know that whatever we give our attention to sticks around…

Choose a different way of handling it. Look at your choices.  Make a decision to move away from your irritation (after all – who but you decided that “they” or “it” is a problem)?

Start to see if you can think about it any differently.

Stop feeding your disappointment and look for something instead.

You might find things start to pick up in unexpected areas!

What’s to lose?
