New day. New possibilities

A few summers back  I gave a talk at The Exams Office Conference in London and Leeds on Communicating with Colleagues. Part of the presentation asked, “How do you say Good Morning to yourself, and others?”

We often don’t like to admit it, but most of us shy away from a new day – either because we’re tired, troubled, or just haven’t figured that our Start of The Day, will affect how we Move Through It.

I’ve read tons on Visualisations and Affirmations, and Positive Routines. No one can set your day up but you – but I can give you a challenge.

For the next 7 days, get up with good expectation. Tell yourself it’s a great day. Start with a smile and kind word for those around you (for yourself if need be).

Most of us need purpose and planning. So, plan those early minutes ahead of time. Perhaps lie in bed and thank Life for what you have now, and what’s yet to come. Think through some good things to be thinking as you have your early morning cuppa or get ready.

  • I say hello to my day and breathe in the fresh morning air with a smile
  • I close my eyes and send my family my love and affection
  • I bless those who I don’t know and am yet to meet
  • I thank my body for its energy and my brain for possibilities
  • I look forward to meeting my colleagues and being as good as I can be around then and for them
  • And I give blessings to Spirit who guides me to be who I can be.

None of this takes long.  What sometimes takes longer is our wonder at ‘is it worth it?’

So just try it for 7 days. And see if it makes a difference in how your day pans out, and how you move through it.

Who could you be nice to today? Who and what are you grateful for? How could you greet tomorrow?
