If you know my story you’ll have heard I’ve spent the last 12 years working as Exam officer at an HMP Establishment and delivering exam standards training to UK schools in the East of England.
So I know a bit about stress and how it stops us showing our best selves. I’ve seen people hiding from life, showing all kinds of emotions, and unable to believe in their ability to shine.
You may know how that feels.
After years of working with those with low self-esteem, I’m here to tell you, you were born with immense ability. It’s a fact. We just need to know how to be our best selves when fear and worry look like defeating us.
You CAN look your exam worry in the eye and win. You will learn how to handle your feelings and come out on top. You just need to allow yourself to face what troubles you and see it for what it really is.
Most of us give little attention to how we think. Our emotions are just “who we are”. We stuff things down, we hope that one day we’ll wake up to a different, more confident us. And slapping a “positive thinking “ plaster on our problem is next to useless, unless we learn to think well.
How do I know this? Because I’ve now delivered this programme in schools and my Meditation recordings are now reaching potentially up to 25,000 prisoners a day.
Is it likely that the Progamme Leaders who organised these events were wrong to place their trust in Mindfulness? They chose it because it works on so many levels for those hurting from fear, immobile from worry, helpless to move forward and stuck in their own spiral of feelings.
I’ve delivered Stress Busting workshops at Conferences and I can see that Mindfulness has come of age. It’s hit its time.
